Obituary of Jane Maureen Gregg

GREGG, Jane Maureen (nee Hodgson)

Peacefully at her home in St. Catharines on March 15, 2019, Jane Maureen Gregg passed away in her 73rd year.  She leaves her loving husband of 48 years, Dr. John S. Gregg and her beloved daughter Kathleen “Katie” Gregg (Alex and his son Nicholas Cameron) of Fort Erie.  Predeceased by her parents, Perc and Ruby Hodgson (nee Smith).  Survived by her sisters Sheila Harrison (the late William Dunlop) of Toronto and Corinne Hodgson (Dr. Douglas Swallow) of Burlington.  Dear sister-in-law of Terry Slobodian and the late Helen Crawford.  Remembered by her dear friend Eva Bates and her godchildren Jane and John Bates as well as Hodgson and Link cousins. Jane always wanted to be a teacher and she was an excellent one for a number of years in Etobicoke before moving to St. Catharines in 1976. She then concentrated her care and attention on her husband and daughter, providing them with a lovely homelife. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to caregivers Sharmaine, Ellie, Joy, Jillian, Katrina and Becky for their great care and attention to Jane, which allowed her to remain at home. The family also thanks Dr. J. Frendo, Dr. B. Kerley, Dr. H. Kim, Dr. R. Safranyos and Dr. J. Robichaud for helping Jane and John during her illnesses. In accordance with Jane’s wishes, there will not be a funeral or celebration-of-life. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME (905) 937-4444. Jane had a warm place in her heart for the Shaver Hospital due to their care of her dear father Perc at the time of his stroke. You may wish to consider a donation to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Foundation, 541 Glenridge Ave, St. Catharines L2T 4C2 (www.hoteldieushaver.org) in memory of Perc & Ruby Hodgson.
