Dear Laura, Paul was shocked and saddened by the sad news that Ron had passed away. He too shared many happy memories of their time working together in India. I hope you are coping ok but I'm sure you have the full love and support of your friends and family around you. Sending all our deepest sympathy.

Ron
Laura, Vanessa and Andrea
We were greatly saddened to hear about Ron's passing. We cannot believe our friend is gone. We believe as long as we think of him he is with us.
We have known Ron for 23 years. And even though years could pass before we saw Ron and Laura again, when we were finally together again it was as though no time had passed at all and we felt as though only days had gone by.
Ron was always the classy, consummate gentleman and a family man that you could rely upon to do the right thing. Ron was easy to know and respect. We were happy in his company and admired his many talents.
We had some fun times skiing in Colorado. Not only did Ron think that a Jack-a-Lope might be a real American animal, he rescued our scared yougest daughter from a giant moose that happened to be on the wall of a restaurant. We enjoyed sailing together in British Columbia. We enjoyed seeing Niagara Falls together. We just enjoyed being together.
We will always think of Ron fondly and remember our good times together.

Ron
Wow, what a shock!!! Donna and I are so sorry.
It's hard to imagine the world without Ron in it. You, Vanessa and Andrea must feel that more than anybody. We are all unique but few of us are as unique as Ron was. He was one big dramatic comedy show. I have major regrets, expecially now. When you moved to Niagara on the Lake, I regretted that we didn't get to see you more when you lived out here on the coast. Now that he's gone, I regret it even more. I'm sorry. I'm also sorry that I let your move somehow stop us from emailing each other. I really enjoyed it when Ron wrote about sailing, cars, the girls, techy stuff etc. All your newsy Christmas letters. Thanks for those. You two sure seemed to have the world by the tail.
It's so tragic that he's gone but what a time you had. Way back, when you were married in 1976, I think, we didn't know if it would last. Boy were we wrong! That would be, what, 36 years married?
Laura, I hope your sense of humour and zest for life will return before too long. I've always thought you were a very special person and special friend. Again, I'm sorry we all didn't spend more time together.
Of course, this gradually brings back memories of High Park Ski Club, our Copper Mountain trip, crewing with ron in the National Yacht Club Wednesday night races and our day trip to Lasqueti and Jedediah. Vanessa as a baby! Since Eileen and I moved to Calgary in 1980 and then you to Texas, I don't think I ever saw the girls again. That's a shame.
That's about all for now. It is still hard to believe that ron is no longer with us.
Again we are so sorry.
Love and sadness, Jeremy and Donna

Ron & Laura
Ron & Laura have been our good friends for over 35 years. His passing saddens us and we will miss him in many, many ways.
We met through High Park Ski Club and Tony first really got to know Ron while they both took the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance Level 2 Certification course at Edelweiss just north of Ottawa in February 1974. We both passed!
Around the time he was courting Laura, he became the Ski School Director and Tony was an Assistant Director. It was while working with Ron that we realized just how organized Ron was and these orgaizational skills served him well through his life and provided him with a very challenging but rewarding career with Stone & Webster overseeing the installation of large petrochemical cracking plants. Ron & Laura and Pat & Tony had their families around the same time and since we lived quite close to each other we did lots together. We are the God parents of Andrea.
He kept a boat down at the National Yacht Club and we entered the club race once a week through the summer. Captain Ron with Jeremy Harwood and Tony as the crew. We were not usually in the winners circle but we had lots of fun. On the weekend races Laura and Pat often met up with us afterwards for the parties that followed.
We took 3 winter ski trips to Aspen and Snowmass with ron & Laura and we have fond memories of sitting in the hot tub at the Ullr Lodge eating ginger cookes and hot tea. Eating King Crab Legs at the Chart House followed by just one serving of Mud Pie which the four of us had trouble finishing!. Then there was the skiing! At Snowmass, we would always be on the first chair in the morning and have an early lunch before the crowds at High Alpine Restaurant. A fabulous place for lunch with an amazing vista over the ski area and great food. They were good holidays with great memories and skiing.
In the late 80's Stone & Webster transferred Ron down to their Houston Office. They spent their last night in Canada staying with us and we were very sad to see them go. In the summer of 1990 we visited them in Houston and our families had fun together at a baseball game, down at the coast in Galveston, at the water theme park of Schlitterbahn and exploring downtown San Antonio.
After Ron's retirement they moved to Vancover Island and we started to see more of them. We visited them twice on the Island, once in the summer where they took us sailing and we feasted on the wild bramble berries. On another visit in February where Ron and Tony had to go golfing at Fairwinds. It was just above freezing and have no idea what we were doing out there.
Over a number of years we skied with them at Sun Peaks, Silver Star and Heavenly Valley. One summer we were out in Vernon they joined us and we played lots of golf. Once them moved back to Niagara on the Lake we saw a lot more of them and played many games of golf together. One November they joined us in Florida for a week and again played golf. Over the years we had many wonderful vacations together.
Another hobby Ron and Tony shared was our woodworking. Ron has an excellent eye for design and was a very accomplished wood worker. Evidence of his handiwork is abundant in this home.
Another more hidden talent was his skill with a ping pong paddle. A humbled Werner Summers came to respect his skills at a cottage on Lake Simcoe.
Ron may be gone but he will be in our hearts for ever. We will miss many of the fun things he would do and say like "going for a gypsy's kiss" or drinking many fine glasses of homemade "plonk".
So...., a toast to our good friend, Ron, "Here's looking up your knickerleg sideways".
Tony and Pat

How We Met Ron
We first met Ron in the summer of 1971 at Westwood Sailing club, the year Bill was Racing Chairman and Fred Williams was Fleet Captain.
One Saturday afternoon in early summer, Baerbel, Bill and Fred were returning from one of the local MERC Regattas in the club's "crash" boat. Before heading back to Toronto Island, where the Club was located at that time, we tied up at the gas dock (now gone) at the foot of Spadina to refuel. All of the sudden this guy comes running up to us. How he knew who we were and that we would be there we will never know. It went something like this:
"My name is Ron Stockton and I am a new member. I want to take my skipper's test and one of you guys has to do it NOW. I am tired of looking for a skipper to take me sailing. I want to be able to take out a boat whenever I want to".
We convinced Ron that late on a Saturday afternoon was not a good time - most of the boats were still on their way back from the race course and anyway, we all had to get ready to go to the very popular Regatta Party at whatever club was hosting that Saturday's regatta.
Ron took his skipper's test the following week and we all know the rest......

Ron
Hi Laura, As you know from talking with Linda we were both very sorry to hear about the turn in your life that I know Ron was preparing for. Ron was one of my true friends that I totally relaxed with and enjoyed every minute with, whether it was on a project or just relaxing, cup in hand.
Didn't we just have the best times travelling together! I am sorry we could not spend these last few years closer to you guys but your proximity to family was priority well thought out. I sincerely hope we can get together again before too long. I know Linda has considered you one of her best friends ever.
Your family is very close and will be even closer in Ron's memory. Take good care of yourself Laura.

Ron
Dear Laura, We are so very sorry to hear of Ron's passing. Although we had not managed to connect for a couple of years we still feel close. Our friendship with Ron was very important to us both.
I always think of Ron as a true gentleman in the best sense of the word. You could not have chosen a better Dad for your girls, Laura. How he loved you three!
Ron had high standards for himself and others but didn't take life too seriously. He was willing to work hard but never lost his knack for enjoying life and making any activity fun.
Allen and I will will long remember the good times we shared with you and Ron. In fact, anytime I think of Ron I have to smile...there were so many laughs.
I hope that your family around you and the memories of your life together will comfort you now.
We are thinking of you, Andrea, Vanessa and Dan and hope that the care and affection sent your way warms you.
In our hearts we hold you close. Love, Linda

Dear Andrea, Vanessa, and Mrs. Stockton, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm so sorry for your incredible loss. Mr. Stockton was such a fun and genuine man. I'm so glad I got to spend a little time with him on his visits to Little Rock. It was obvious to me from the first time I met him that Andrea was the girl-version of her daddy... two peas in a pod. I knew I would love both of you, Mrs. Stockton, because Andrea ADORES ya'll. I loved how you said the words "two adoring daughters" in his obituary because that could not be more true. I'm not sure I have another girlfriend who adores her father as much as Andrea adored hers. He was such a great dad and I know he has left all of ya'll with an awesome legacy and so many fun family memories that you will have forever in your hearts. I'll be praying for all of you in the weeks and months ahead. Lots of love!! Amanda Kella

Hi Aunty and cousin's,
My thoughts are with you, and we will miss Uncle Ron lots. I was just giggling about the wrinkle dog puppet he use to play with when children where around. Sending lots of love to you. xoxoxo from BC.

Our dear friend Ron will be greatly missed for all the great times we shared together. His spirit and the wonderful memories will be with us forever. We, as well as Craig and Susan will dearly remember the dinner parties "woking with won" and so many more good times over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Laura, Vanessa and Andrea during this most difficult time. Love.
