Obituary of Jimmy Priftis

PRIFTIS, Demetre (Jimmy) - Passed away with his loving family by his side on Monday, January 14th, 2019 at the Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Athanasia (Soula) for 51 years. Cherished Father of Jak (Ioanna), Nik (Carla) and Andreas (Haven).Loving Pappou of Nasia, Viki, Athina, Madalaine, Vivienne and Lillian. Brother of Costa, Angela (the late Alex), Agathi (Costa), Doxa (Michael) and Sophia (Peter). He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Jimmy was an active member of the Greek Community of Niagara. He volunteered for many years at the St. Catharines Greek Festival. Jimmy was a cofounder of Club Ellas. He loved playing poker with his best friends who he loved to cook for. Jimmy will always be remembered as a diehard Montreal Canadiens Fan and Panathanaikos Soccer Club Fan. A sincere thank you to all of the nursing and ICU staff as well as the Doctors at the Juravinski Hospital for all of their care and compassion. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, January 17th from 4-8p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 18th at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 585 Niagara Street, St. Catharines at 11:30a.m. Burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to St. Katharine Greek Orthodox Church - Club Ellas would be appreciated by the family.
