Obituary of Gladys Battle
BATTLE, Gladys (nee Milne)
With a broken heart I am announcing the passing of my mom on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the age of 94. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland July 3, 1924. Beloved wife of the late Ronald “Dick” (1999). Dear mother, always remembered by daughter Sharon and her late son Ronnie (1970), nanny to her only granddaughter Sara. Sister of Belle (Chip - 2015) Soyka (2018), Stan (1982) (Dolly- 2015) and Charles Jr (1939). She will also be sadly missed by nieces and nephews.
Mom was a long-time member of West St. Catharines Seniors Centre where she loved to play cards and bingo with her many senior friends. She was also a member of Rockway Community Centre where she was the star baker of the Apple & Cherry Square at many of their special events over the years. Mom was a beautiful knitter and would donate sweaters, mittens, hats and socks to Community Care. She also knit for the premature babies – booties and hats for the hospital.
In keeping with Gladys’ wishes, cremation has taken place and a Service of Remembrance will take place in the spring. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUINERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. An Inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to a charity of your choice.
