Eulogy

Good morning. I’ve been asked to say a few words about Angie today to capture her life and allow us all to remember what a wonderful lady she was. I don’t know if we can only use a few words as so many words come to mind. Loving, generous, caring, mom, grandma, friend, independent and let’s not forget funny. Angie was an only child born in Niagara Falls. She lost her mom at the young age of 13 and grew up with aunts, uncles and cousins who became her parents and siblings. She was married and had three children Ralph, Michael and Angela. She worked all of her life cooking for many children in several daycares, then was the receptionist at CCAC. Some of you may not know she also saved a Baby’s life while working and was honored by the City of Niagara Falls for this accomplishment. Angie lived for her children and then their spouses who were also HER children. Angie then became Grandma to five beautiful grandchildren David, Robert, Josh, Matthew and Julia. She also took on role of adopted grandma to all the kids in the family and made sure she knew what was going on in every child’s life. Well, let’s be honest she was nosey too. She was such an active, supportive Grandmother attending so many events. We can all remember the cheering and clapping at the sports games and the occasional embarrassing renditions of Oh Canada when literally NO ONE else in the event was singing. She took hockey and soccer Grandma to the next level. Well, she took Grandma to the next level. She insisted on dressing up every Halloween when the older boys were tiny and would tell them, “I’m going to come dressed up on Halloween!” and they would look back at her with big eyes and skepticism shaking their heads and ask, “but why Grammy, why?” Well we all know why-because she was fun and did not care what anyone else thought. She lived her life to the fullest on her terms. When Angie had down time from all of these grandchildren and family events she loved to play cards with her neighbors and friends, she loved to read and keep her mind sharp with word search and games. And let’s not forget her part time job as the family weather lady. She would update us every ten minutes on the tens with that weather network on the TV more often than we would all like to admit. Angie made sure to keep in touch with her friends and loved ones except for the hour between 430 and 530 of course when the Young and the Restless was on. She loved her grand dog Bailey who is currently going through serious treat withdrawal. No matter what she did, her kids, grand kids, close family and friends were always the focus. She had a life full of wonderful moments and memories with friends and family, such as vacations, family dinners, graduations, weddings, baptisms and so many more from her younger days right up until this past Christmas. We all have those same memories that we can hold close to our hearts. She made everyone laugh and smile. She loved people and people loved her. She will live on in her five grandchildren that have many of her wonderful traits. I will close by reciting a quote that captures it in a nutshell.

Angie- “You lived for those you loved and those you loved remember.”

God bless you.
