Lorne Dueck

Obituary of Lorne Dueck

DUECK, Lorne- After a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis, it is with sadness we announce the passing of Lorne on Tuesday September 18, 2018.  Beloved husband of Helen, cherished father of Kally Dueck and Kammy (Mark) Elliott, loving Gramps of Matthew Keegan Leslie, Madison and Devon Elliott, Kay (Kevin) Muir and Kristopher Zwolak and Great Gramps of Theodore and Rosalind Muir.  Brother of Esther (Levi) Klassen.  Predeceased by his sisters Elvira (George) Epp, Wilma (Peter) Klassen and Glenna Dueck.  Lorne will also be forever remembered by his numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and dear friends. Lorne had the heart of a businessman and always looked for innovative ways to build a business. He would quip that by the age of six he was already the CEO of his own Freshie stand and it was then he developed a thirst to become an entrepreneur. Always motivated to work hard and do his best Lorne founded and built many successful businesses in the Niagara Region. His successes propelled him to want to do even more. His vow to never let his own disability get the best of him led him to start helping children with disadvantages and disabilities. He saw the potential in every child to build new skills and capabilities and began to sponsor children so they could learn, grow and benefit from the summer camp experience.  This work ultimately led to his position on the National Board of the March of Dimes. Lorne was a people person. His love for others also prompted him to work overseas in developing countries to help local towns and villages build their own communities by establishing schools and churches. In his personal life Lorne loved to travel and loved to fish. His greatest joy though, was his deep love for his Lord and Saviour and the time he spent together with all of his family.
