Predeceased by mother Gladys Leone MacQuillen and step-mother Mary MacQuillen, father William (Bill) MacQuillen and step-brother Billy MacQuillen.   Douglas leaves behind his twin sister Donna Gale and step-sister Sherry Dick (Abe), nieces Sandra Gale (Jeff Shennan) and Leah Genovese (Peter).  Nephews Wayne Gale (Isabel), David Gale (Katrina) and Ben Dick (Caroline).  His great nieces and nephews Peter Gale (Jessica), Christina Gaston and daughter Amelia Gaston, Eve and Billy (Genovese), Joel, Amelia and Lyla (Dick). Douglas grew up in Glenridge of St. Catharines, Ontario and spent many happy summers at the family cottage in Niagara-on-the-Lake.  He graduated from the St. CatharinesCollegiate then pursued further education by attending Queens University and the University of Toronto.  He soon moved to LondonEnglandwhere he spent several pleasurable years working in the Theatre. Upon his return to Niagara he began a long career at Stokes Seeds Ltd. as a Purchasing Agent.  Douglas was a lover of classical music and devoted collector of antiques. For a time, he hosted a retail booth at the Prudhommes Market where he enjoyed a group of like-minded enthusiasts.  Some of his other interests included travelling to France, wine making, reading, and gourmet cooking.  His dry wit and clever mind will be missed by those who loved him. Cremation has taken place. A service will be held at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines for family and friends on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 12:00 noon.  Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Niagara Community Office at #2-432 Niagara Street would be appreciated.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to the local Meals on Wheels.
