Obituary of Gerald Ehgoetz Higenell

HIGENELL, Gerald - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 31st, 2018 at the St. Catharines Hospital in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Margarete for 67 years. Cherished father of Peter (Gail), Bob (Elizabeth) and Barbara (Bruce) Chambers. Loving Opa of 10 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter, who was born the day after Gerry's passing. He was a beloved, longtime teacher, starting his career with the opening of Grantham High School. Throughout his life, Gerry was deeply involved in community organizations, serving on the boards and chairing many of them. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, September 6th from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place at Christ Lutheran Church, 140 Russell Avenue, St. Catharines on Friday, September 7th at 11a.m. Burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to SOUL Ministry - Christ Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family.
