Obituary of Helen Mary White
WHITE, Helen Mary (nee Hopkins)
Passed away peacefully at Albright Manor on January 9th at the age of 100.
Helen was born March 28, 1911 in Little Current, Manitoulin Island.
Helen is predeceased by her beloved husband Frederick Stanley White (1983). Survived by her devoted daughter Sheryl Cobban (nee White) and her loving grandchildren Heather (James) Verrier and Daniel (Lina) Cobban. She will be missed by her great grandchildren Micah, Kendra and Ethan Verrier and Helena Catharine Cobban-Dominguez.
Helen was predeceased by her parents James and Maude Hopkins, her brothers Earl, Ted, Willard, Robert (Bud), Jack and her sister Joyce Hubbs.
Helen came from Northern Ontario to Sarnia in 1928 to train to be a nurse at the Sarnia General Hospital, graduating in 1931. After Fred's passing, she moved to St. Catharines in 1985 and volunteered at the St. Catharines General Hospital for many years.
Helen's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, January 12th from 10-10:45am. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11am.
Burial will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Sarnia on Tuesday, January 24th at 1pm.
If desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
