Obituary of Joseph "Henry" Lamontagne
LAMONTAGNE, Joseph "Henry"
Passed peacefully on July 20th at NHS – St. Catharines, surrounded by his family and loving wife, Nancy. Henry will be greatly missed by his children Bob (Annette), Jeff (Rowena), Karen (Rick) Johnson, David (Angela), Allison and Dana (Adam) Breton. Henry was proud grandfather to Josh, Jade, Erica, Taylor, Rhys, Evan, Ryland, Annelise, Cash and great grandson, Parker. He is survived by his sisters Germaine Vanderlee and Mary Ann (Claude) Langlois and predeceased by siblings Lena (Henri), Theresa (Wilfred), Des Neige, Raymond, Fernand and brother-in-law John. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Henry cherished his large family and was happiest when he was with them. He loved family gatherings and always looked forward to annual summer reunions by the lake. Henry appreciated the outdoors and helped create wonderful memories while sitting by campfires, boating and fishing with his family.
Henry spent many years employed as a welder at Foster Wheeler and as a design fabricator at T & J Antiques. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering on his children, grandchildren and the Toronto Maple Leafs. His creative nature was evident in his passion for cooking, music and building projects. He shared a love of travel with his wife Nancy and they also enjoyed attending theatre together. Henry had a kind, generous heart and a natural tendency towards helping others. He was an active volunteer with Big Brothers Association and Canadian Cancer Society. Henry and Nancy were foster parents for Niagara FACS and Henry also volunteered as a driver. He enjoyed socializing, good conversation and had the unique ability to always make those around him feel welcome. Henry will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have loved or known him.
