KRASOVEC, Anthony “Tony”
Passed away on July 9th, 2018 at the age of 82 surrounded by the caring staff at Niagara Gardens. Tony is predeceased by his wife Joan (1985) and brother Jim (2018). Tony is survived by his daughters Rita (David) Mines, Rebecca (Donny) Theal, Rachel Krasovec and Ramona (Pete) Pepe. Grandfather to Katie, Matthew, Jared, Shane, Carson, Jessica, Julia and Frankie. Tony is also survived by his sister Wendy Krasovec (Russ) of Vancouver and sister-in-law Patricia Krasovec.
Tony was born on November 27th, 1935 in Kirkland Lake, ON and moved to the Niagara Region with his family at the age of 10, eventually settling on a fruit farm in St. Catharines. He was a draftsman by trade and spent 25 years working at Newman Structural Steel in Welland, later starting Planco Drafting in Welland and continuing to work out of his basement throughout his retirement.
Tony was a devoted member of 2 Slovenian Societies, Branch 12 Bled Mutual Benefit Society and the Slovenian National Home Lipa Park. He was President at Lipa Park for a number of years and served on the executive committee working tirelessly until his health concerns held him back. Well known in the community for his involvement in the St. Catharines Folk Arts Festival for many years, serving as President and on the board for some of those years. He was a member of the Pickerel Fishing Club for over 50 years and a member of St. Julia’s Parish. Tony will always be remembered for his passion for both farming and enjoying the festivities at Lipa Park.
Family, friends and guests are welcomed to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thursday, July 12th, 2018 from 2-4pm & 6-8:30pm with Vigil Prayers being read at 3pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Julia Church, 251 Glenridge Ave., St. Catharines on Friday, July 13th, 2018 at 11am. Burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, followed by a reception at Lipa Park. Memorial Donations to the Canadian Paraplegic Association would be appreciated by Tony’s family.
