Obituary of Helen Giroux (nee Smelle)

Giroux, Helen Olga (nee Smelle) - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother at St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 84. Loving mom to John (Irena) and Gary (Kathy) and their father the late John "Jack". Cherished sister of Fran (Al) Lounsbury, Jim Smelle and sister-in-law to Doris Smelle. Survived by her step-grandaughter Lindsay and her son Theoden and many loving family members and close friends. Predeceased by her siblings Paul, Carl, and Tom (Annie). Helen was a devout Roman Catholic and loved her pet cat Spook. Special thanks to all the nurses and doctors that cared for mom at home and the hospital.
The family will be received at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street on Tuesday between 2-4 pm and 6 - 8 pm. Vigil prayers will be said in the funeral home on Tuesday at 3 pm. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday at the funeral home at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Rankin Cancer Run.
