Obituary of Lina Ferrante
FERRANTE, Lina (nee Stanziano)
Passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, May 21st, 2018 at 79 years of age. Lina is predeceased by her adoring husband Giambattista of 52 years. Cherished mother to Luigi (Lucia), Angela (Luigi) Fratangelo and Fernanda (Harry) Krekorian. Loving Nonna to Laura, Ariana, Liana, Peter, Lucas, Jonathan and Melina. Lina will also be missed by her family and friends in Canada and Italy.
Lina came to Canada in 1965 from Castellino del Biferno, Italy where she settled in St. Catharines. Lina worked for Boese Foods in the early 70’s, and retired from Peninsula Fittings in 1997. When Lina wasn’t at church, she could always be found happily cooking and baking for her family and friends. Lina will be forever remembered for sharing a special relationship with her grandchildren. Lina will live on in our hearts as being a kind and gentle soul who would always put others before herself. A special thank you to Teresa Ferrante for her kindness that she demonstrated, Mary with the Respite Companion Program, and the doctors and nursing staff at the NHS – St. Catharines.
Family, friends and guests are welcomed to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines on Thursday, May 24th, 2018 from 2-4pm & 6:30-9pm with Vigil Prayers being read at 3:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine St. on Friday, May 25th, 2018 at 11:00am. Entombment will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada and the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated by Lina’s family.
