It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen (Kay) on Sunday, April 30, 2018 in her 103rd year. Beloved wife of the late Winford Harper (1973). Cherished mother of June (Don) Stewart, Joyce (the late Bill) Crawford, Jean (Maurice) Brisson, John, Joe (Dawn), Janie Holden and Julie (the late Brian) French. Devoted stepmother to Harold. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Predeceased by her parents, John Henry Smith, Lorraine Annie (nee Loucks); her children, Charles, Kathleen, Betty, Art; eight step-children; her sister Marie, half-sister Joyce and half-brother Lloyd. Kathleen was born in Meaford, ON. She was raised at times on her grandparents' farm and later moved to St. Catharines at the age of 12. Kathleen's biggest joys in life included being a Mother and a Nurse's Aide, caring for residents at Maplehurst Hospital in Thorold. More often than not, with smiles and chuckles, she would reminisce about her cross country trip with her sister Marie and dearest friend Jeanette. Special thanks to the caring and devoted staff at Tabor Manor. In accordance with Kathleen's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Kathleen's life will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Sunday, May 13 from 1:30-4 p.m. She will be forever missed & never forgotten.
