TANNER, Eileen Beatrice
Passed unexpectedly at home on Saturday, April 21st, 2018 in her 89th year. Eileen is survived by, and will be deeply missed by her loving husband Al of 61 years. Cherished mother to her children Carol (Mike) Purcer and Kenn. Beloved Nana to Jessica (Mike), Carl and Tasha (Jason) and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Eileen is survived by her sister Isabel Burte of Glace Bay, NS, and is predeceased by her brothers Ken (Lil) Butts, Gerald (Nellie) Butts and Eric (Clara) Butts.
Eileen was a Registered Nurse for 33 years in Glace Bay, Toronto and St. Catharines, proudly dedicating her working life to the well-being of those in her care. In her retirement, Eileen continued supporting others with her involvement in the Downtown Seniors Association of Niagara, where she took great pride in being secretary as well as president. Eileen was also a great contributor to the St. James Anglican Church Women (ACW) in Merritton.
Family, friends and guests are welcomed to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Saturday, April 28th, 2018 from 1-3pm for an afternoon visitation, followed by a 3:00pm Celebration of Eileen’s Life at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, Eileen’s family has asked that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer Association of the Niagara Region.
