Obituary of Domenico Di Stasi
DI STASI, Domenico
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Domenico surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of 50 years to Giovannina “Gean” (nee Calabrese). Loving Father of Silvana (Joe) Tota, Rick (Gillian Arlidge) Zebryk, Theresa (Brian) Ballantyne, Doreena and Debbie (Gianni) Portanova. Cherished Grandfather to Joey (Lindsay), Emilio (Christina), Nicholas, Matthew, Brendan, Giuliano, Alessandro, Dylan and Great Grandfather to Jashon, Brianna, Anise and Luca. He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and many other extended family members. Domenico is predeceased by his parents Victoria and Giovanni as well as his brother Nicola.
Domenico immigrated to Canada in 1968 from Cercemaggiore, Italy and worked as a brick layer artisan until his retirement. He loved his work and was very proud of it. You could find him in the garden, enjoying a glass of his homemade wine or playing his favorite game of cards.
Thank you to all the staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital and special thank you to Nurse Victoria and Kristen who took special care of our family in this difficult time. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 169 St. Paul Cres., on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow Mass at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, Queenston St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
