KREUK, Maria “Rie” (nee Stap)

Resilient in her 90th year, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 19, 1928 in Lutjebroek, Holland. Predeceased by her husband, Floris Jacob (1995), mother of Lydia (Graham), Peter (Deanna), Mary (Fred), Joe (Lynn), Rob (Lori) and Margaret. Daughter of Alida Stap-Jong and Piet Stap. Survived by her brothers and sisters in Holland: Jac, Paul, Joop, Corrie, Piet, Nic, Tiny and Ton. Pre deceased by Annie, Vera, Truus and Arie. Proud grandmother of Kristin (Eric), Justine (Adam), Joshua, Michael, and Jacob. Fiercely independent to the end, she lived in her own home, drove her own car, took water aerobics and attended Mass thrice weekly. She was a volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul Society for over 30 years. She lived life to its fullest. In accordance with Rie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 4-7p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 31 Chestnut St. East. on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. An Inurnment will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, Queenston St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Catharines.
