Obituary of Simone Rita Balz

Balz, Simone Rita (nee Dionne)

September 28, 1933-January 17, 2018; beloved mother of Steven and Susan, grandmother of Angel (Jason Farouk) Mentz, great-grandmother of Aria and Jackson Mentz, and wife of the late Frank Balz. Simone was the cherished daughter of Marie Dumont and Henri Dionne. She was the youngest of four siblings - Marie-Ange Dionne, Alice Berube, and Henri Dionne, who have all predeceased her.  She will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins and close friends, especially Angel’s mother Colleen Balz. Simone passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 17, 2018, with family at her side. She will be missed by her friends and family, who love her dearly.  At Simone’s request, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., for visitation on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 7-9 p.m.  A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
