Obituary of Peter A. Medland

MEDLAND, Peter

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17th 2018 in his 81st year. Loving husband of Janice (nee Barclay) for over 56 years, devoted father to Craig, Paul (Christine) and Bettina, and proud grandpa to his three grandchildren, Alex, Max and Cooper. He was predeceased by his parents, Marguerite and Willard, and his grandparents. Also left to mourn are his brothers and sisters: Anne Marie Timlock (the late Jack), Jane Broderick (Ted), Thomas (Carole), Lucy Crowe (the late Gary), the late Patricia (Nick Manzo), Paula Morley (Robert), Gregory (Carolyn), and Elizabeth (Dave). He'll be missed by the Barclay clan: Howard (Ruth) and Peter (the late Nancy). Peter is also remembered by his many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Peter was a bus driver for the St. Catharines Transit Commission for over 34 years. He especially loved driving far & wide on charter trips for various groups and teams. Peter loved puttering in the garden and his model trains. He was a life-long fan of classic cars, whether restoring them in the garage, driving to car meets (especially to meet his brothers-in-law Howard or Peter) or as a member of the Antique & Classic Car Club of Canada. He was also a passionate reader of history and loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays. We'll all miss his offbeat sense of humor. The family would like to thank everyone at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Rehab Centre, especially the 2nd Floor team, for their love, prayers and support at this difficult time. In keeping with Peter's wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21 from 2-4 p.m. at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St, St. Catharines. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a charity of your choice will be appreciated by the family.
