We remember when Rod was the loudest hockey fan in the old Virgil arena when Taylor started playing hockey. I remember him as the bravest and only father who did a bungee jump when we took the soccer team to Ottawa white water rafting. I remember when he forced Pat Paul and I to keep golfing during a blizzard because he was starting to score well. Most importantly we will always remember Rod as the best Coach in soccer and in life that our son Adam and all his teammates ever had.

Rod has been one of the most influential people in my life. Rod taught me football (soccer). Growing up, all us notl boys needed guidance and Rod provided us with comical wisdom and footballing expertise. He always wore a smile on his face and was very fair on and off the pitch. I have so many fond memories of Rod, we used to stay late after practice and take penalty shots on him....his famous lines were 'If you save this, you win a trip to disneyland'...or when he made a diving save, you'd hear him yell 'Gordy Banks'. Rod was like a father to so many of us, I feel fortunate to have had him in my life. Sending all my love to the Brown family. He will be missed dearly.

Kelly, so hard to capture in words my memories of you and Rod. I was there thirty plus years ago when you first met. Rod was crazy in love with you . He was "love struck"! I remember thinking this love will stand the test of time, and from all the lovely tributes to Rod and your family, indeed it did. A love like this will exist beyond time and this life, there is no doubt. Rod always looked at you with a twinkle in his eye as if to say" wow I really got the girl of my dreams". I envision that he will always be standing right beside you with that same twinkle and embracing you with those same thoughts. I'm thinking of you and hope that you find comfort and peace in all your wonderful memories of Rod.

I worked with Rod on steady Midnight's for many years in the sheet metal shop.Rod made work a lot more fun than it could have been he was a very funny guy. I retired at the end of 2008 so I hadn't seen Rod for a while until I bumped into him at one of the breakfasts they have on Thursday's. He told me about his illness and I was shocked because he looked good. I was hoping that he was going to be all right and it was quite awhile since I had seen him when my brother gave me the bad news on Sunday. My condolences to Rods wife and children and other relatives and friends. Rod was a great guy and I'm sorry for your loss.He will be missed.

Just wanted to send our deepest sympathy to you all. Bud wishes he could be there for the funeral but unfortunately he works out west. We both thought Rod was a great guy. Bud still tells the joke about when they pulled up to the soccer field and a bunch of seagulls were on the field. Rod pipes up " there short but I think we can take them". Thinking of you all at this time. God blessed us all with a great person. xo
