Obituary of Maria Hadjiyannakis
The servant of God, Maria, fell asleep on November 13, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on January 20, 1938 in Gennadi, Rhodos, Greece. Loving wife of Andreas and their children Stasia & Manoli Loukas, Steve, Flora & Steve Milios. Cherished Yiayia of Marina, Peter, Stasia, Yiannis and Andreas. Survived by her siblings Haristoula Alevizos, George Riniou and Victoria Cappelletti. Adored sister-in-law of Nikiforos and Katerina Hadjiyannakis. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews Stasia & Dragan, Katholiki & Stelios (Haris & Katerina) and Paul as well as her extended family in Greece.
Maria was a member of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church where she served for many years as the Philoptochos President.
Family and friends will be welcomed at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 3-5pm & 7-9pm. Prayers will be recited at 7:30pm. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 585 Niagara St., at 11am. Interment will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Walker Family Cancer Centre or St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church would be appreciated by the family.
