Obituary of Rosa Donatelli
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet, loving mother and grandmother peacefully at her home on Monday November 13th, in her 92nd year. Surrounded by the affection of her cherished family, Rosa is now an angel in heaven and reunited with her beloved husband, Giovanni “John” (2013). Rosa is survived by her loving sister, Maria (Cosimo) D’Eramo. Cherished mother of Nino (Laura), John (Linda), and Frank (Sylvie). Most loving grandmother to Jonathon, Nina, Gina, Sarah, Carla, Michael and David.
Rosetta was born in Ateleta, Italy and is the youngest of 13 siblings. Rosa married Giovanni in 1948 and immigrated to Canada in 1953 with her son Nino. Through the years, Rosetta worked at local specialty bakeries and was known for her pastry and cookie culinary skills. Our Mother was the most generous person to all who knew her. Her whole life was about her family and friends, always putting others first and herself last. Rosa was deeply devotional, and her faith never unwavering as she dedicated her life to her husband Giovanni while trying to carve out the best possible life for her children & grandchildren. She touched so many people with her sweet personality and her generosity. Mom took pride in her baking and cooking and no one ever left empty handed.
Family and friends will be welcomed to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. on Thursday Nov 16 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred Church, 272 Vine St. St. Catharines on Friday Nov 17 at 11:00 am. Parish prayers to be announced. Entombment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
We also want to thank Rosa's many nieces, nephews and friends. Very special thanks to Pat D’Intino who stood by our mom for as long as we can remember and to Gino, Olga, Nina, Irma and their families for the constant visits and support. The family would also like to thank our live-in caregiver Laurina for her dedicated attention to my mom, and to Clelia and Diana of Paramed for their compassion.
We feel blessed to have had such a beautiful mother who inspired us to be generous, persevere and work hard in everything we do. Nothing could compare to the level of dedication she had for her family and others, always putting them above herself. There was nothing in the world she would not do for any of us. She is finally at rest. Mom you will be greatly missed by all of us and we love you.
