Obituary of Robert "Bob" McGhee
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert on Monday, October 9, 2017 in his 84th year. Much loved husband of Claire of 39 years. He will be greatly missed by his brother Ken, sister-in-law Ellen and nephew Tom. Loving stepfather to Rob (Patty) Gregory and Cathy (Don) Hutt. Stepgrandad to Eric (Tori) Hutt and Holly (Derrick) Hunt. Also survived by his grandniece Stephanie and grandnephews Andrew, Brandon and Tyler. Predeceased by his nephew Randy McGhee.
Born in Newmarket in 1933, Bob grew up in Aurora where he attended elementary and high school. He was employed by Toronto District School Board in maintenance and transportation for 35 years. Upon retiring in 1989, Bob and Claire bought a motorhome and travelled for 6 years then purchased a mobile home in Zephyrhills, Florida where they enjoyed the sunshine for 22 years. During this time Bob learned the woodworking art of Intarsia and produced many beautiful items. For the last 7 years, Bob and Claire have resided at The Royal Henley Retirement Residence.
Family and friends will be welcomed at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Vigil Prayers will be recited at 8pm at the funeral home on Friday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred’s Church, 272 Vine St., at 10am on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Memorial donations made to the Alzheimer Society or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
