Obituary of Jure (George) Trogrlic

TROGRLIC, Jure (George) - Passed peacefully from complications of pneumonia at Heidehof Home for the Aged, on October 9, 2017 at the age of 95. Predeceased by his wife Barbara (Wetty) in 2009.  He is survived by his children Dinko (Nada) of Croatia, Maria (Danny) Fannon of St. Catharines, and Marta (Gord) of Oakville.  His namesake son George predeceased in 1987. He is predeceased by his parents and all of his brothers and sisters from Croatia. Loving Ota to grandchildren Ana, Bozenko, Ljubica of Croatia, and Cathy and Danny of St. Catharines, Christopher of Niagara Falls, Adrienne of New York and Nicky of Oakville.  Great granddad to 9 great grandchildren. George left his home country of Croatia, formerly Yugoslavia, married in England and immigrated to Canada in 1951, making Winnipeg, Toronto and St. Catharines home.  He was a 25 year employee of Kelsey Hayes in St. Catharines.  He was an avid walker, being sited in all parts of town.  He was a well known garage sale and fix it guy, liking the social aspects of the deal.  Not a big sports guy, he became #1 fan of Nicky’s baseball team, speaking to him weekly from afar just to follow his career.  A bit of a homebody, George’s wish was to return to his homeland one last time, which he did in 2010, after a 60 year absence.  The Family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the compassionate and caring staff at Heidehof Nursing Home, amazing care by Dr Arvinte and with special mention of Christina, his PSW who cared for him like family. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Thursday, October 12th from 10:30a.m. - 11:30a.m.  Funeral Service will follow on Thursday at 11:30a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to Heidehof Home For The Aged would be appreciated by the family.
