To Willy Van Velzen / Van Straten, a wonderful and well-loved wife, mother, grandmother, pool shark and cribbage champion who never gave an inch but was always gracious in victory. Here's to a life well-lived and memories that will last forever.

"Mom,
Our hearts were woven with sadness, joy and love,
when your spirit left us,now looking from above.
The drowning tears welled in our eyes,
but our precious memory never dies.
You have re-united with loves and friends,
After all the journey never ends.
Until we meet again...........
Love Reg, Cathy , Reggie,Kaitlynn and Robert"

"Our prayers for strength & comfort go up for your family. Tante Willy was an indomitable woman, one of the original survivors. She was a big part of my childhood memories of many cousins hanging out together, playing, exploring and surviving without helmets or video games or cell phones. Good times."

as difficult as it is to see through your tears of grief, take comfort that your mom is not truly gone, she will live on forever in the hearts of those that loved her

I feel fortunate to have had almost 25 years of life lived alongside my Oma. So many memories will stay true to my heart; annual videos dancing to Christmas music, visits to Florida, times spent together as "housemates", and shared laughs over homemade pea soup to name a few.
Thank-you for enriching my life with love, laughter and joy, and assisting in moulding me into the person I am today.
I know you will be watching over me and my growing family as life progresses. Until we meet again.

No need to worry anymore mom, you can rest easy with pup and Bill now. You taught all of us how to be independent, strong and showed us that no matter what obstacles come our way to deal with it the best we can and keep on living. Through you I've learned to live life with purpose and determination that no matter what... follow my heart.
Thank you for being a part of my life through thick and thin. Thank you for thinking of my children and seeing them when you could. Thank you for all the memories we've shared that now, will cherish for the rest of my life.
You are in that special place in my heart, with pup and all those who are dear to me. You are my Sunshine...
Forever in our lives, love always.. Johanna, Sarah, Andrew and Sean

A mother, a friend, a sister and now an angel.
My heart is heavy with the sadness I feel
My memories are light with the love, so real
How short, our time on earth, it seems
We live in wonder, we live for dreams
You loved me well, your love so full
You taught me life, you filled my soul
You stood by me in the brightness of sunshine,
You held me in the darkest moments of my time
When age and disease took you from me, too soon- too fast
Our days were numbered, I remember the past
I wasn't always kind, impatient at times
While you struggled to remember our names, our faces, even nursery rhymes
Shared moments during your fading memories
Are the ones, I hold most dear
For it was during these times that I faced the fear
Of losing you one day, too soon for me !
It's now time for your soul energy to fly
I'll watch the stars and know you are nigh
Still watching over us, as the days go by
I love you mom, I always will
Your smile, your laughter warms my heart still
Always your daughter, your friend.......forever in my heart
Catharina xxxxx

Me and Willy were the first born in a family of 12
We were so close we even did get married on the same day
and immigrated to Canada shortly after
That was not an easy time at first but we made it
We ended up living next door to each other and raising our children
During our retirement years we lived next door to each other for about 10 years in Florida
We had some great times there
After that we did get to live across the road from each other
You will be missed Willy by us and all your sisters and brother in Holland
And of course your children and families will miss you dearly
Our condolences to each and everyone
May God bless her soul
Gerry, Ali and family

God Took Her To His Loving Home
God saw her getting tired, a cure was not to be.
He wrapped her in his loving arms and whispered "Come with Me"
She suffered much in silence, her spirit did not bend,
she faced her pain with courage, until the very end.
She tried so hard to stay with us but her fight was not in vain,
God took her to His loving home and freed her from the pain.
Love: Angie, Brian, Tori & Kodi xxx...ooo... Forever in our Hearts.
