It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a great man at the age of 80 on Monday, September 25, 2017. We have lost a hardworking, fun loving, Mr. Fix It All, who loved the outdoors, gardening, making jokes, and spending time with family and friends. He is the cherished husband of Hilda (nee Dukker). Beloved Father of Patricia, Linda (Rod) and Jim (Melanie). Loving Opa to Meredith, Sydney, Dylan, Rory, and Lee. Henk will be sadly missed by his siblings Cor (the late Mary), Corry (Kurt) Splitt, Toon (Truida), Afra Beroud, Alphonse, Tini, Ben and Pete (Margie). He will be fondly remembered by Hilda's family far and wide, friends, neighbours and co-workers. Predeceased by his loving parents Cornelius and Afra and his siblings the late Vera and Pete Stroomer, the late Margaret (Tom) Rietveld and the late John (Germaine) Vanderlee.The family are very thankful for the attentive care by Dr. Bokhari, Colleen, and Trish at The Walker Clinic, and Alex and Marek (CCAC). Henk’s family will receive guests at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 3-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will take place in the funeral home at 3 p.m. on Thursday. A Funeral Mass will take place at Star of the Sea Church, 34 Elgin St, on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. A Rite of Committal will follow Mass at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, Queenston St. Memorial donations may be made to the Walker Family Cancer Center or to the Warehouse of Hope.
