WESTERA, Hendrik “Henk”

Passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the age of 98. Beloved Husband of the late Elizabeth (married 1985-2015), and the late Teuntje Bastina (married 1947-1983). Loving father of Lambert (Colleen), Klaas (Teresa) and Ada (Gary) Lewis. Cherished Opa of Keri, Kevin, Lisa, Jodi, Janine, James and Groote Opa of 6. Predeceased by his grandson Hendrik. Henk will also be lovingly remembered by his family and friends in Canada and The Netherlands.

Henk was a remarkable man who lived on his own and continued to drive a car until the age of 98. He was incredibly gifted artistically as a violin maker, painter, sketcher and gardener. His perfection showed through in his art and engineering profession. He was also a religious man with an unquestioned belief in his faith and who contributed to numerous charitable organizations.

Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Tuesday, May 16th from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, May 17th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery at a time to be determined. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
