Obituary of Yvette McKenna

McKenna, Yvette Marie (Tessier) Died peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on March 30, 2017 at the age of 93. Yvette was the loving and devoted wife of Edward (Ted) and dear mother of Kevin (Marilyn), Mary (Don) Inverarity, Patricia, Sean (Michelle) and Kathleen (Bill) Schenck. Loving grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is survived by a sister Jacqueline of St. Catharines and a brother Roger of Peterborough. Pre-deceased by her brother Paul Tessier. Yvette was a lifelong resident of St. Catharines. She attended St. Catharines Collegiate and was employed in the Catalogue Dept. of Sears where she retired in 1990. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and belonged to several organizations, among them Post Polio Niagara Chapter, West St. Catharines Seniors and St. Mary’s C.W.L. Her sense of humour and cheerful smile will be missed by her many friends. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the hospital nursing staff on 3A as well as to Dr. J. Child and Dr. A. Hameed. Friends and family will be welcomed at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Vigil prayers for Yvette will be said at 3:45pm at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 169 St. Paul Cr., on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10am. Rite of Committal will be held at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial remembrances made to the Carmelite Sisters or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
