Obituary of Albert Martz
MARTZ, Albert,
80, of St Catharines, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2017.
Albert was born in Halmbruch, Germany to Jakob Maretzki and Alma (nee Fenske) on 5 April 1936. He married Elizabeth Reder on 5 October 1957 in Hamilton. He owned several businesses, Hi Grade Heating, Café Vienna, was a realtor with Rogers Real Estate and an estate manager. His passions were travelling and cycling. Albert and Elizabeth travelled together extensively across North America, Europe and the Caribbean. He cycled a total of 348,000kms, which included solo rides across the United States at 55yrs and Canada at 71yrs.
His greatest pride and joy was his family. Albert is preceded in death by Elizabeth his Wife, Carin his daughter, parents Jakob and Alma and siblings Edmund, Hilda and William. Albert is survived by his daughter Conny and her husband Charles, siblings, Meta, Paul, Heinz, Alma, Waltraud and Walter, grandchildren Stephanie, Michael, Peter and Karl, and great-grandchildren, Jake, Elisabeth and Heather Joy.
Visitation will be Friday, March 10, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Church, 89 Scott St, St Catharines. Cremation will follow the service.
Memorial donation may be given to Rankin Cancer Run or Assist Canada.
