Obituary of Irene D'Amore

D'AMORE, Irene - Peacefully with her loving family at her side on Friday, January 20th, 2017 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at 86 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Giovanni. Loving mother of Maria Teresa (Tony) Scappaticci and Pat (Marilu) D'Amore. Cherished Nana of Diana (Anthony), Steven, Sarah, Erica and Spencer. Much loved sister of Romilda (the late Lucio), Maria ( the late Antonio) and Evelina (Mike) Colacarro. She is predeceased by her sister Anita (the late Arturo) Vendittelli. Sister in law of Celestina (the late Pasquale). Irene is also predeceased by her sisters in law and brothers in law, all of Italy. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Irene's joy was spending time with her family. Our fondest memories of Mom was how happy she was cooking and baking for her family and seeing them gathered around her table. A sincere thank you to the E.R. Team, the Doctors and Nurses of Unit 2A and all of the support staff at the St. Catharines Hospital for all of their care and compassion. A special thank you to Father Andy Goodwin for all of his visits and comforting prayers. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Monday, January 23rd from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place on Monday at 3:30p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, January 24th at 9:30a.m. Rite of Committal at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
