Obituary of Noreen Rose Wheeler

WHEELER, Noreen Rose It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the age of 88 after a short illness at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital. Noreen was the beloved wife of the late Captain George Wheeler (2008). Will be sadly missed by her 7 children, George (Jan), the late Charlie (2007) (Sandy), Suzanne Sawatsky (Ralph) of Niagara Falls, Noreen Bedford, Kathryn Reynolds, James (Roseanne) of Fort Erie, Robert (Monique). Cherished by her 13 grandchildren, Algis Jovaisas (Tara), Chris (Melissa), the late Reco (1997), Stella Bigford (Cameron), Sarah Richards, Peter Richards, Patrick (Jessica), Katy Reynolds, Robert, Jenny Jones (Gareth), Kyle, Michael, and Abigail. Also survived by her 12 great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Jack Penner, Madisyn and Brooklynne Richards, William and Amelia Bigford, Chloe and Charlie, Reco and Georgia, Emma Richards and Rhys Jones; her brother James McAvoy of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and many family and close friends. Predeceased by her sisters, Catherine Gallagher, Marguerite Pelham, Marie McAvoy; brothers, Charles McAvoy, Clyde McAvoy, and Frank McAvoy. Noreen will be remembered as a loving and generous woman who devoted her time to her family. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Arvinte and nurses for the care and support given to Noreen at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, January 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Wednesday at 3 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 316 Queenston St., St. Catharines on Thursday, January 5 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Rehab Foundation.
