Obituary of Earl Armstrong

ARMSTRONG, Earl Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of 63 years to Theresa. Cherished father of Grant (Caren), Roger (Laurie) and Michelle (Lance). Proud grandpa of Caitlin, Eden (Kenny), Allie, Nicholas and Macgregor. Earl was employed as an Inspector by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food for 36 years, with his last post being at the Vineland Experimental Station. Earl was born in Toronto and was a lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and at one time served as an usher at Maple Leaf Gardens. He was also an avid supporter and fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Argonauts. Earl had an opinion about everything and everyone and wasn't afraid to share it. His greatest achievement and joy was his family. He spent many summers on the baseball & soccer fields, many winters in the arenas, and other times enjoyed watching dance recitals. He also coached his sons in lacrosse and hockey, spending many hours in Dixie Arena, Mississauga. One of his favourite places was Wood Lake in Muskoka, where he spent many summers as a child and then shared that experience with his own children and grandchildren. Anyone who experienced Earl's storytelling and sense of humour will never forget it. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Special thanks to the staff at NHS-St. Catharines. In keeping with Earl's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Sunday, November 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Earl's life will take place on Monday, November 21 at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Following the ceremony, a reception will be held in the Kristen French Fellowship Hall at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the War Amps or the Rankin Cancer Run.
