Obituary of John Gnot

GNOT, John Surrounded by family and his loyal dog Teddy, John passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Devoted Husband for 48 memorable years to Judy. Awesome Dad to Tina (Lyndon) Gnot and Donna (Jerry) Clute. The best Grandpa to Abby (Dan Sabourin), Emma, Jonathan, Donovan, Nic and Alexis. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Stasia (Ed) Kurowski and Mary (Joe) Berges. Brother-in-law to Bev (Ziggy) Kartasinski, Alice (Henry) Wojewoda and the late Jean (Joe) Tkaczyk. He will also be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family members and his Saturday morning Garage Boys Club. John is predeceased by his loving parents Leon and Rozalia and sister Anna Gawel. John immigrated to Canada in 1965 from Poland. He enjoyed golfing with Jerry, fishing with Uncle Frank up north, Allegany Mountains "Kaiser 12" for Thanksgiving, Roadtrips in the "Naverac" and many other family adventures. He retired from Homer Auto Wreckers after many years of service and was a self taught "Mr. Fix It" of anything he touched. Many thanks to Dr.'s Aaron Chan and Michael Levesque, the entire Nursing Staff of the Walker Family Cancer Center especially Dot, Paramed Staff and Nurses, Nora at CCAC for all their help and compassion and his caring PSW Zofia. In accordance to John's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. A Celebration of John's Life will follow the visitation in the funeral home chapel at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lincoln County Humane Society - Lady and the Tramp Fund or the Walker Family Cancer Center - Medical Equipment Fund.
