Obituary of "Gordon" John William Houtby

Houtby, J.W. Gordon It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father John William Gordon Houtby. Gordon passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, at Niagara Gardens on October 5, 2016 in his 96th year. Predeceased by his loving wife Elaine (2000) and his son Norman (2016). Loving father of Douglas (Kathleen), Bruce (Wendy) and father-in-law to Kathryn. Will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Jeffrey (Christine), John (Trishia), Sandra, Richard (Brean) and Sarah (Chris) and his great grandchildren Jordan, Ethan, Trevor, Tyler, Liv, Stan, Evelyn, Meagan, Kiana, Michael and Nicholas. Gord will be missed by his brothers Bill (Iris), Walter (Ana), Fred (Irene) and numerous nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law of Dorothy (Carl) Tinsley of Scottsdale, Arizona and two sisters-in-law Betty Houtby. He is predeceased by his parents Harold and Margaret as well as brothers George, Art, Edward, Harold and sisters Evelyn, Elma, Mabel, Louise and Helen. Gord had a long productive career at Eaton Yale, working for the company for over 50 years. Special thanks to all of the wonderful staff at Niagara Gardens for all their care and support of our father. Friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., on Sunday October 9, 2016 from 6-8:00 pm and Tuesday October 11 from 10-11:00 am. A Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 am. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimers Society or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
