Obituary of Richard "Dick" Vanstone

Vanstone, Richard "Dick" "Gone to be with the fishes". Dick passed away on Sept 15, 2016 aged 74, leaving behind his loving wife Melitta, sons Darren (Kelley), Robert (Tina), and much loved grandchildren Jenna, Liam, James (Alisha), Stephanie (Kalan), sister Barbara (Richard) Mawhood, brother John (Janet), brother-in-law Tom, as well as nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his father Richard Sr. (1984) and mother Gladys (2003). He was extremely proud of his family as they were of him. He was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed. Dick retired from Senior Management at Sears Canada after 33 years of service in 1999. His passion was fishing. He was a member of the St. Catharines Game and Fish Association. He fished competitively in tournaments and recreationally in lakes and rivers across Canada. He also loved baseball in which he played, coached and managed from minor to senior levels, taking the "Old-Timers" to the Canadian Championships 6 times. Dick was a past blood donor and long time member of the YMCA. The family extends their thanks to Dr. Eli Rabin and Dr. Danny Lagrotteria for their continued care and support. As per Dick's wishes cremation has taken place. Friends will be welcomed at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday September 20, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9. If desired, donations can be made to a charity of choice. "Jeeeezus Christ! Just keep swimming."
