Obituary of Ben Duncanson

DUNCANSON, Ben Passed away peacefully at Chartwell Niagara on Sunday, August 14, 2016. Loving Husband, Father, Father-in-law, Grandpa, Brother, Brother-in-law, Uncle and Friend. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years Eleanor, son Greg (Michelle), grandchildren Cole and Paige, brother Murray (Gladys), brother-in-law Peter (the late Lois), nieces and nephews and many other extended family members. Predeceased by his loving parents Walter and Clara. Ben enjoyed inventing and building things, working on antique vehicles and his collection of Massey-Harris tractors, hunting, fishing, traveling, playing euchre, helping others and spending time at the Silver Lake cottage. He left Manitoulin Island at age 19 and worked for Columbus McKinnon and later for General Motors until his retirement in 1993. Ben's family would like to thank all the staff and Ben's roommate Terry at Chartwell Niagara for all their care and compassion. Ben's family will receive guests at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Ben's Life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. A Burial will take place following the service at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, Queenston St. Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer Society.
