I am sorry I cannot be with you all on Friday but, please know, you are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. I hope the service will be a real time of celebration of a life well-lived and well-loved. It was certainly a blessed day for Dad Piper when he married Olivia. I so enjoyed the times we were able to visit over the years. I still have the mug she gave me many years ago....just because I admired it so much one of the times we stayed with them in Sundridge. Her wisdom, down-to-earth approach to life and her sense of humour always made it a joy to be with her. I particularly appreciated those qualities when we flew up to Thunder Bay together back in 2009 and had to sit on the Toronto tarmac in one very hot plane for about 5 hours when our takeoff was delayed by bad weather. I am grateful to have had her for my mother-in-law because she sure made a great one! I have made a donation in her memory, via CanadaHelps.org, to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital.

John, Steve, Connie, Fran,
As you know your Mom and my Mom were very, very close. Olivia was my mother's niece, but Olivia was 4 months OLDER than Mom. They were more like sisters and they enjoyed each other's company. Olivia, being 4 months older than my Mother, enjoyed calling her, Aunt Norma, which, of course she was. When I was an adult, and in their company, I always enjoyed how they would reminisce and laugh about things that happened in their younger years and their school days in Strong Township. Mom and Olivia always tried to top each other with the best birthday cards, usually involving "age", of course.
With love and blessings to all of you,
Donna Ruttan

It warms our hearts to think back of the blessing Olivia was to Sandy and I. We lived in the tiny house in her back yard, overlooking the Henley, for a few months after we were married. While there in that happy little house, Olivia elegantly shared her expectations of goodness in Christ, encouraging us on our way and helped fill our hearts to bring the gospel to others.
We look toward to seeing her again in Glory.

I am sitting here 39 years after hearing the Gospel from Olivia and am saddened at her passing. I just recently returned from a trip to Nigeria for a West Africa Pastors Conference and was asked by a group of young students how I first heard the Gospel. I was able to share the story of Olivia and Fran, who shared with me about Christ. going to church with them at Bethel that Anniversary Sunday and hearing the gospel again from DeLoss Scott as he told the story of "the man who had two sons..." From Luke 15.
I thank God for your Mom, Olivia, who stayed a friend, prayer and financial supporter to us as missionaries, to where I am today! Our deepest condolences!

I have fond memories of Olivia. My husband and I joined Riverside shortly after we were married and that is where we met Olivia. I loved reading her obituary as I could just hear her exclaiming over the sight of a barn...any barn. She was a delight! I could listen to her share for hours! Unfortunately our time was cut short with her move to Gravenhurst, but we visited there, too. I feel blessed to have had a chance to know her and want her family to know how she touched a life just by talking, smiling and taking an interest. May God grant you comfort and bring the peace that only He can bring. May your memories be sweet! She spoke with such affection when talking of her family.

To John, Steve and all their families,
We're so sorry to hear about Olivia's passing. We didn't know she was sick. We grew to love her so much while we attended Riverside Baptist Church. She was always happy and greeted us each Sunday with a big hug. She became a good friend and then we lost touch as we left Riverside and eventually she moved down to St. Catharines.
We're sorry for your loss, but thankful that she is in the arms of her Lord. We will all meet again in that beautiful place called Heaven. She will be greatly missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

On behalf of the church family at Riverside Baptist in Huntsville, ON, I extend our sincerest condolences to Olivia's family on her passing. As the wife of a former pastor at Riverside (formerly Locks Baptist), she was dearly loved and held in very high esteem by all who knew her. A dear saint of the Lord, her presence was always welcomed in every setting. Her legacy and Christian heritage will continue to impact generations to come.
God bless you all as you both grieve her passing and anticipate seeing her again, with the Lord.
