Obituary of Mary Hopkins

HOPKINS, Mary Frances With deep love and much sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother on March 31, 2016 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Martin Hopkins (1994). Loving mother of Colleen (Larry) Morrison, Shawn (the late Helmut) Pahl, Tom (Linda) Hopkins and Martin (Jude) Hopkins. Predeceased by her parents, Henry and Caroline Colton and by her beloved sister and best friend, Margaret (the late Charlie) Hartleib. Cherished Nana and Grandma of Carrie (Stan), Tim (Diana), Amy (Mark), Jason (Elske), Jeff, Kristy (Andrew), Chris (Abigail), Matthew, Marty and Rose (Jo). Proud great-grandmother of 11. She will be fondly remembered by her devoted sister-in-law, Dorothy McMorron and by her loving nieces, nephew and their families. Mom was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of the St. Denis CWL. Family was everything to Mom. She made everyone feel special and loved. She loved to dance and sing, act silly with the kids, cook for her family and spend summers at the lake. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered. "God Bless. We'll light a candle for you." Thanks to Matt and Carol for their special care over the last few years and to the staff at the NHS. Mary's family will receive family and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, on Tuesday, April 5 from 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held in the funeral home chapel, on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. with burial to follow the service, at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In memory of Mary, donations may be given to the Niagara Children's Centre or to the charity of your choice.
