Obituary of Oleksander Babij

BABIJ, Oleksander Passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Olena. Cherished father of Orest. Loving brother of Irena Chrapko and her family in Ukraine. Dear cousin of George Babiy (Zhenya) and his family. Oleksander was a lawyer in St. Catharines for 35 years and an active leader in the Ukrainian community. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Monday, April 4 from 6-8 p.m. Panachyda will be recited in the funeral home on Monday at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 5 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rite of Committal to follow at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery in Oakville. Memorial donations may be made to the Canada Ukraine Foundation Medical Mission 2016.
