Obituary of Mieczyslaw Szymanski

SZYMANSKI, Mieczyslaw "Mitchell" Passed away peacefully, in the arms of his loving family, at Albright Manor in Beamsville on March 12th at the age of 86. Mitchell was married to his best friend, Joyce, for 59 years and their love and devotion were an inspiration to all. He was the beloved Tata of Ted (Shari), Joe (Linda) and Dan (Regina), and Dziadzi of Matthew, Stephanie, Peter and Alana Szymanski, and Nicholas Clarke. Mitchell will be missed by his brother Syl (Nicole) and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Born in Poland on October 20, 1929, to Peter and Stella Szymanski, the family immigrated to Canada after the War. He was proud of his Polish heritage and was very active in the Polish community, and the Canadian Polish Society, where he undertook many roles, the last of which was President in 2006. For the past year and a half, Mitchell has been a resident of Albright Manor. Words cannot express our appreciation to all the staff for their care and friendship. In return, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Albright Manor or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Mitchell's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, March 18th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, March 19th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate Street at 10am. Rite of Committal following in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Friday at 3 pm.
