Obituary of Jim Johnson

JOHNSON, JIM - With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jim on Tuesday March 1st, 2016 at the age of 65 at the St. Catharines General Hospital. After fiercely overcoming two previous bouts of cancer, Jim's Journey came to an end after a brief battle with leukaemia. Jim's Journey - a catchphrase of his - began on January 26, 1951 in Kitchener, when he was born to parents Jack and June. The Johnson family moved to St. Catharines in 1963 - Jim followed in his parents' footsteps as an entrepreneur, having embarked on many local business ventures - most notably Party Novelties, The Lakeside, Specialty Print and Nevadaman. For the past 15 years Jim's Journey took him in another direction - he was actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous, where he made lasting impressions on most everyone he encountered. Jim is survived by his wife Monika of 38 years, son Jay (Kristen) Johnson, daughter Jessica (Nick) McShane; grandchildren Gray, Weston and Ruby McShane; sisters Jayna (Rob) Faragher, and Jill (Rob) Foote; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Jack (2012) and June (2009).The family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St.Catharines on Sunday March 6th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
