Mr. Hulse was a wonderful teacher of mine from high school. I had him for history back in grade 9 or maybe 10. I’m just reading now of his passing. I remember he made me write a full paper for being late to history one morning! Was the last time I was late. He also mentored us when I was on student council in OAC. I always admired and respected him through high school. Thank you , Mr Hulse for making high school a memorable and fun time for me. Bless you and your family.

I just learned about the passing of Greg while surfing the web randomly. Greg and I were part of an inter provincial student exchange back in the Spring of 1968 between Quebec City and Toronto. I could not have had a better mate than Greg and could not have landed in a better family than the Hulses. My deepest sympathies to Mr and Mrs Hulse, Colleen, Maureen and family.

I was just looking for old friends of mine when I went to St. Rose of Lima School and St.Lawrence School when I lived in Scarborough. Greg Hulse was my best friend. So I happened on this site, I read the condoleances and a lady mentioned Rossander Cresent and then I was sure...
My family emigrated back to The Netherlands when I finished grade 8.
I'm so sorry Greg and I never met up again, wonderful to read, that he became a teacher!
I sometimes helped him with homework (I was the best boy of 3 grade 8 classes, but I was topped by a Russian immigrant Eva!).
Joe Parente was the third friend in the "gang".
My sincere condolences for the family,
I never forgot Greg....

Mr. Hulse, you were indeed one of the best! When you taught it I learned it. Who would have thought that dividing by fractions was so easy! I remember how excited I was that you were going to be our grade 6 home room teacher, then how shocked and sad I was that you were transferred just after the start of the school year in 1985. Recently I got together with Matt Gordon and Darren Craig, three of your students now grown men with families, sharing stories of how you made a difference in our lives. I want to tell you that I am a professor now, went 'all the way' in my studies and that you have been a cherished guiding spirit in my journey and in how I connect with my students. I thank you, I miss you.
My sincere condolences to your loved ones.

Forty years ago I made Greg's acquaintance while we were Brock College of Education students , ready to do our part for the celebration and preservation of Catholic Education in years to come. That acquaintance blossomed into a friendship which endured a thirty-seven year span and with Greg and I retiring on the same day in 2013.
During our careers, which followed slightly different pathways, we remained friends and when our children were youngsters, even met each other on vacation as families. His love for his two sons, Simon and Darcy is unfathomable.
Greg was a wonderful human being who excelled in his role as a Catholic educator and administrator. He extolled many virtues in the acquittal of his vocation, and among them fairness, selflessness and complete objectivity when dealing with students and parents were always at the fore.
Last week I had the privilege to visit Greg on two occasions in Hospice and even though I knew that his illness was so far gone that there was no hope for recovery, I prayed for a miracle, one that would keep Greg in this world a little longer......much longer, because this world is in dire need of people like Greg, whose strength of character and integrity are what it needs to possiblly heal it. Now that he is no longer suffering, I am happy for him, but at the same time I can't contain my sadness over the fact that our world as we know it has suffered a great loss.
To Mr. and Mrs. Hulse, Simon, Darcy, Karen and Amanda, please accept our deepest sympathy over the untimely passing of Greg.
Sincerely,
Khayyam, Vicki, Sabrina, Khalil and Ashleigh Syne

Hi,
My name is likely not familiar to you. I played hockey with Greg (Hulsie) on Thursday nights going back to the 1980s.(I think?) Sheldon kept us all aware of his struggle this year and for all the long time players he was missed on the ice this year. Like most of us on Thursday night, he played because he loved the game and liked to pot a goal now and then.
May Greg rest in peace and may you find some solace in knowing he is in a better place. God Bless You !!

I am heartbroken. Greg was one of my favourite people, an oustanding educator. I was Chair on Catholic School Council in Greg's last years at Monsignor Clancy. His priority was always what lay in the best interest of the children and school community. He had a great sense of humour but his greatest attribute was to inspire us. He left an imprint on the many children and parents with whom he came into contact - and for this we will never forget him. My prayers and thoughts go to his family.

My sincerest condolences and prayers to your family.
Greg was my elementary ( Micheal J Brennan) and then high school (Holy Cross) teacher. He always pushed me to be better in everything ....sports but especially in math because he knew it was such a a challenge for me. He was "that" teacher that so cared about "us" his students. He made such an impact in my life to this day, helped me to understand how to step into my best self. When he would speak of his family he would have a huge smile from ear to ear trying to hide it but just couldn't. I am forever grateful for his presence in my life.
May your beautiful soul be guided to the kingdom with with pure love and light. Once there, may you forever Rest In Peace that you so deserve.

My condolences to the family of Mr. Hulse. He was my grade six teacher at Michael J. Brennan and was again my teacher in highschool. He was really great at what he did. I remember I was a competitive swimmer back in grade six and no one really knew about it but one day I came in to class and Mr. Hulse had read in the paper that I had won gold in various events in my meet over the weekend. When he told me he had seen it and congratulated me I felt on top of the world! Thank you Mr. Hulse for being such a caring and compassionate person. You will be sorely missed.

Mr Hulse taught grade six at Michael J. Brennan. When I was in grade five, all I wanted was to be in Mr. Hulses class. I had a bit of a crush on him, I think. I was giddy with excitement to find out, at the end of grade five, that he would be my teacher in grade six! For the first time in my young life, I couldn't wait for summer break to be over so I could be back at school! He was my teacher for about one week then we received the announcement he was being transferred to St Nicholas. My heart broke, and I begged my parents to send me to St. Nicolas, so he could still be my teacher. Unfortunately, we lived out of district and that wasn't possible.
I will miss him dearly, as I always have.
