Obituary of Leokadia Szpilewska

SZPILEWSKA, Leokadia (nee Bielaga) In her 89th year, Leokadia passed away after a short illness surrounded by her loving family at Hotel Dieu Shaver on Friday, February 26, 2016. She is predeceased by her husband - Fabian, her sister, Wadyslawa, and her brother Czeslaw. She is survived by her brother; Edward, and her 4 children: Teresa (Marian) Zalewska, Basia (Joe) Kedzierski, Andrzej (Teresa) Szpilewski and Marian (Ewa) Szpilewski. She will be deeply missed by her 12 grandchildren: Basia (Kazimierz) Lewkowska, Artur (Agnieszka) Zalewski, Ania (Lucas) Cieryt, Ella (Jeremy) Voth, Joanne (Pablo) Kedzierski Navarro, Kathy (Nicholas) Gray, Sylvia (Chris) Wilson, Derek (Justiss) Kedzierski, Marek Szpilewski, Darius Szpilewski, Piotrek (Anna) Szpilewski and Asia Szpilewska. She was greatly loved by her 11 great-grandchildren: Mateusz, Adam, Ewelina, Gabriela, Amelia, Jakub, Victoria, Liliana, Mason, Elijah, Jonah and two more that are soon-to-be-born by Joanne (Pablo) Kedzierski Navarro and Piotrek (Anna) Szpilewski. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at St. Catharines General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Shaver for their compassionate care. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, on Monday, February 29, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The Rosary will be held Monday evening in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate Street on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 11a.m. Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations given to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church would be appreciated by Leokadia's family.
