Obituary of Janez Podobnik

PODOBNIK, Janez Passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle at the Hotel Dieu-Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre on Tuesday, February 23rd in his 90th year. Beloved husband of 56 years of Emma and devoted father of son John and daughter Sylvia Cameron (Lorenzo Medico). Loving Stari Ata of Evan and Jenna Cameron and father in law of Colin Cameron. Survived by four sisters in Slovenia and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents and 9 siblings also in Slovenia. Very special thanks to Dr. Arvinte and all the staff on 2 West for their expertise, kindness and respect. Mr. Podobnik's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday, February 26th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A service to celebrate Janez's life will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 11:30am in the funeral home chapel. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow the service with a private family inurnment taking place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Hotel Dieu-Shaver Rehab would be appreciated by the family.
