Obituary of Leta Mary McMahon

McMAHON,Leta Mary 1928-2016 Passed away peacefully in her home in St.Catharines on February 13th, 2016. Leta lived almost 88 years. Predeceased by her devoted husband Laurie McMahon, her parents Santino and Francesca Gasbarini and her brother Albert .She was a strong, creative, loving mom to Laraine McMahon-Nelson (Rick), Sheila Masters, and Michael McMahon (Sherry). Grandmother to Paul Masters (Allisha), Andrew Masters (Rachel), Matthew Nelson (Bronwyn), Kerry Nelson Milovic (Milan), Christina McMahon and Alison McMahon. She was also a loved great-grandmother and aunt. Survived by her sisters Ann Dwyer and Jean Gasbarini, her brother Tony Gasbarini, and her sister-in law Linda Wylie. Leta will be remembered for her Halloween taffy apples, beautiful birthday cakes, amazing Italian cooking, and her love for the Blue Jays, Betty Boop, and going to the casino. She worked 18 years for the Victorian Order of Nurses. Many thanks to the caring St. Elizabeth Nurses, Care Partners, Dr. Zuliani, and loving friends and family. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place with funeral arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street. There will be a Memorial Mass to celebrate her life on Saturday, February 20th at St. Denis Catholic Church, 230 Lake Street at 11am, with visitation at the church from 10:30am until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favourite charity would be appreciated by the family.
