Obituary of Raymond Gelinas

GELINAS, Raymond Passed away peacefully at the age of 70 with his family by his side on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Hospice Niagara, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Raymond leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 48 years Jacqueline. Cherished Papa of Steven (Debbie), Lynn (Will) Van Ojen and Carole (Ray) Anderson. Grandpapa to Deven, Kayla, Sophie, Bethany, William and Emelie. Raymond will be fondly remembered by his 97 year old Mother Cezarine. Beloved brother to Aurore (Laurent) Bedard, Fleurette (the late Marcel) Martel, Marie Reine (the late Benoit) Hinse, Rejean (Nicole Valiere), Lise, Jean-Guy (Claudette Magnan), Jacqueline (the late Andre) Mayer, Alain (David) Mills, Joanne (Alain) Fournier and Guylaine (Marcel) Valiere. Brother-in-law to Angella (the late Ernest) Lanteigne, Rhéal (Aline) Lanteigne, Murielle (Edgar) Whissel, Jeanne D'arc (Rolland) Audette, Claire (Doug) Palmer, Annette (Bill) Richards, the late Benoit (Louise) Lanteigne, Rene (Nicole) Lanteigne, Gabriel Lanteigne, Florent (Rick) Lanteigne, Liette (Esco) Makela, Lucette Lanteigne and Daniel (Jackie) Lanteigne. He will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Daniel, baby brother Rene and baby sister Ghislaine. Raymond was a proud member of Immaculée Conception Church, the Knights of Columbus, Club LaSalle and Club des Bon Vivant. He had many hobbies that include Bowling, Pool, Blueberry picking or vacationing out in Florida. Raymond was an employee of Dana Canada for over 34 years. The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice Niagara for their loving care and support. Raymond's family will receive guests at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at Immaculée Conception, 99 Garnet St., on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Hospice Niagara in Raymond's name would be greatly appreciated by the family.
