Obituary of Remedios "Nina" Filomena Brune

GERONIMO - BRUNE, Remedios "Nina" It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Remedios "Nina" Filomena Geronimo - Brune on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at the Hamilton General Hospital at 9:20 p.m. Born July 5, 1929, Nina was one of ten children born to Felipe and Basilisa Geronimo. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gaston Brune. She will be dearly missed by her siblings: Dr. Miguel (Joy) Geronimo, Leon (Elvira) Geronimo, Anthony (Dinna) Geronimo, Trina (Ramon) Isidro, all from California; her in-laws Mimi (Bert) Davesne (Niagara on the Lake); Bruno (Ofelia) Davesne (Mississauga), Christine (Mark) Davesne- Folliguet (France) and many grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as many friends. Nina was preceded in death by her older brothers Herman, Federico, Hermilo, Alfredo and Dr. Pacifico Geronimo. She was a very special Aunt to Tom (Vancouver); Maria Bernardita (Toronto); Alfredo Junior (Philippines); Rey (California); Charito and Martin (California); Joe, Manny (California) and Henry (Hawaii); Phillip, Dolores (Ohio) and Perry (Arizona); Raquel, Oscar, Edgar (California) and Mickey (Oregon). She was blessed with the opportunity to have enjoyed the company of 23 grandnieces and grandnephews and 18 great grandnieces and nephews. Nina was fortunate to have witnessed four generations of her family, and loved each of them as her own. She loved to play the violin and sing in the choir in her spare time. She had travelled to many places in her lifetime. A special thank you to Gaston's niece, Christine Davesne-Folliguet and great nephew, Maxime (France,), for their care, compassion and presence in this time of need. Nina's family will receive guests at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thursday, January 7, and Friday, January 8, 2016, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Alexandria, 3 Lyman St., St. Catharines on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at 10 a.m. A Rite of Committal will follow the mass at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery, Niagara on the Lake.
