Obituary of Nancy Barber

BARBER, Nancy Catherine B.S.N. Peacefully with her family by her side, Nancy passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at the NHS- St. Catharines Site, at the age of 88. Nancy will be forever loved by her husband of 65 years, Bob. Loving mother of Susan (Bobby) Staton, David (Erica) and Gord (Marni). Proud grandmother of Paul (Kim), Christine (Sherri), Dana (Daniel), John (Cara), Robert, Theresa (Taylor), Zach and Josh. Cherished great-grandmother of Madilyn, Kate, Cameron, Cody, Mackenzie, Brooklyn, Charlotte and Benson. Nancy was predeceased by her parents George and Eileen Gordon, her sister, Mary Griffith and by her brother Chap Gordon. Nancy was a member of the St. Julia’s Catholic Women’s League, the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club and also the Niagara College Retirees’ Association. The family would like to thank all of Nancy’s close dear friends who were pillars of strength and support for the family throughout the years, especially to those who were such a great help during her stay in the hospital. A special thanks to the Nurses and Doctors, working unit 2A, who cared for Nancy at the Niagara Regional Health Centre. Nancy’s family will receive family and friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Tuesday, January 5th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be recited in the funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Julia’s Roman Catholic Church, 251 Glenridge Ave. on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow the ceremony. A private inurnment will be held at Victoria Lawn Cemetery at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations given to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Carmelite Home would be appreciated by Nancy’s family.
