Obituary of Leonard "Len" Wingfelder

WINGFELDER, J. Leonard Passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of 55 years to Marjorie. Loving father of David (Cynthia) and Grant (Rhonda). He will be remembered by grandchildren; Steven, Cheryl, Skylar and Teague. Left to mourn are his brother, Joseph, sister, Dorothy; as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters, Bernice (Arsenius), Doreen (Jim), Patricia (Len) and Rita (Alan). Len began his career at A&P stores in his hometown of Kitchener-Waterloo. In 1955 he was transferred to Winnipeg, where he met and married Marge. The family moved to St. Catharines in 1971. Retired at the age of 59, Len enjoyed the outdoors and in particular, life at the cottage. He was a member of The Society of the Holy Name of St. Alfred’s Church. In accordance with Len's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street on Tuesday, January 5th from 7-9 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11 a.m., with visitation held prior to the ceremony, from 10-11 a.m., in the church. In memory of Len, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
