Obituary of Fred Arthur Stewart

STEWART, Fred Arthur Passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at the age of 92. Beloved spouse of the late Mary Stewart (1997). Much loved father of Catherine (Brian) Banks and Fred (Dianne) Stewart. Proud grandfather of Jayne and Tom Stewart. Dear brother of Robert (Barbara) Stewart. Fred will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his siblings Margery, Frank, James and William. Fred was born on the family farm, where he worked his entire life. He was an astute businessman and devoted dairy farmer and was one of the founding members of the popular Avondale Dairy Bar. He enjoyed working with animals, being outdoors and most of all, spending time with his family. Special thanks to the staff at the GNGH for their care and compassion during the last two weeks. Family and friends will be received at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Friday, December 4, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Fred's life will take place on Saturday, December 5 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Fred's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
